Everything All The Time

Multidisciplinary Inspiration

With so many great categories of design, it is hard to just focus on one. Which is why this blog will focus on a little bit of everything: architecture, furniture, product design, illustration, various artists, etc. Curated by Brian Everett of EVRT Studio in Kansas City

There are some designs which I feel should absolutely not be messed with.  Peter Shire in collaboration with Modernica, redesigned the wooden legs of the Eames Shell Chair.  Personally, just looking at this chair makes me cringe.
There are a lot of people whom follow design very closely, and the moment they see something new, it is a “trend”.  For me, Mid Century will never be a trend, it was a period in time where a lot of great things happened.  In my opinion, it seemed like most people cared more about life in general in that time period.  They dressed better, they designed things with more thought (and it was widely accepted), movies were amazing, etc.
Eames furniture has definitely caught on in the last few years, more so than it ever has.  But it is not a trend!  Maybe a trend to collect it. Anyway, decide for yourself, but I think that chair couldn’t be worse.
