Everything All The Time

About

Multidisciplinary Inspiration

With so many great categories of design, it is hard to just focus on one. Which is why this blog will focus on a little bit of everything: architecture, furniture, product design, illustration, various artists, etc. Curated by Brian Everett of EVRT Studio in Kansas City

Imagine for a moment you are Isamu Noguchi’s brother. And he made this nice table for you, as a birthday present. You might think he is the greatest brother on the face of the planet.
But according to Herman Miller, that is exactly how this table’s life began. Noguchi was building this table for his sister as a gift. George Nelson (HM’s first design director) walked into his studio and fell in love with the table. Some 50 years later the table is still being produced, and is one of the most iconic pieces of furniture of all time.
If I were to look deeper, what I might take from this is great ideas or maybe some of the best ideas, occur when the pressure is off.

Tim Lewis Studio
Tim has some fantastic furniture creations, along with lighting and some more experimental work. I’m a sucker for basic materials and processes (that is Industrial Design geek speak) so these two pieces above caught my eye. Not to mention the Mid Century vibe they give. Click through to visit Tim’s studio.

Flotsum & Jetsam Table by Marcus O’Reilly Architects
This Melbourne based Architecture firm apparently has a team of surfers whom keep their eye out for interesting pieces of driftwood. The driftwood pieces are then cut to size, cleaned, colored & waxed, then attached to the steel frame creating a mosaic of recycled wood. Love the use of materials and especially love the use of the team of surfers to pull this together!

Endless Sofa by Incorporated
I’m not actually a big fan of leather, for numerous reasons, but mostly because it is freezing when you first sit down, then I end up sweating. That was probably too much information, but anyway, I can make an exception for this sofa. Love the form, love the detailing, and especially the hints of a mid century styling.

Dip table by Think Inside
Simple & clean, but not without sacrificing some style. Inspired by the Citroën DS automobile. Think Inside also does lots of custom work for interiors. They have a seriously impressive portfolio.

Launching tomorrow and lasting through Thursday (Nov. 4 - 5), Blu Dot and Mono have teamed up to create the REAL GOOD Experiment (Experiment = creative marketing campaign). They will be randomly placing Real Good chairs on curb sides throughout NYC, for people to take freely. The idea is to find out where the chairs end up, and how people use them. Click through to book mark, and check in tomorrow!

Pitch stool by Nicolai Czumaj-Bront
Made using reclaimed wood, which makes each stool unique. A beautiful shape as well.
Nicolai has also used Tumblr for his website, which is an interesting concept. I wonder if we are going to see more of this.

A little retro stereo console I just got off craigslist tonight. There is a turntable inside that still works, although I won’t be using it. Check out that awesome logo!

Amazing. I was in an incredibly divey bar in Brooklyn about four months ago, saw a speaker just like this with the cane mesh and attempted to take photos of it without getting mashed by the mosh pit. Someone should bring this back, STAT or I will.
It is funny you should say that. I’ve been thinking the same thing: that someone needs to be making furniture like this again. I’ve got a whole list of ideas if you want to talk. I even have some Solidworks models of some stuff I was messing around with.

Hi, if you’re in New York and you have a need for furniture you should check this site out. Prices (and delivery) are a deal and owners have unbelievable taste. It make so much more sense than spending your money at West Elm.
That is a really cool site. Wish I lived near NYC to take advantage of it. I’ll take that Scoop chair, and everything else please. Kristen, how about you just ship stuff for me? :)
