Flex Coffee Table by Emiliano Godoy
This table is genius in many ways. It uses very little material which makes it very light weight, but is extremely strong.

Log by Patricia Urquiola
If you have any interest in furniture design and don’t know whom Patricia is at this point, you must be living in a cave. She is pretty much on top of the world. I love this new sofa from her: it combines a little bit of traditional styling and functionality but would fit in any minimal modern home as well.

Endless Sofa by Incorporated
I’m not actually a big fan of leather, for numerous reasons, but mostly because it is freezing when you first sit down, then I end up sweating. That was probably too much information, but anyway, I can make an exception for this sofa. Love the form, love the detailing, and especially the hints of a mid century styling.

Cord Chair by Nendo
Probably one of the more phenomenal chairs I have seen in recent memory. The wood legs are only 15mm in diameter (about 5/8”). To achieve this, the chair is entirely hand made. The workers (nay, artists) actually hand carve and hollow out the wood to wrap around steel rods for this chair to work. All joinery is hand made as well. Stunning, and time consuming no doubt.

Stitched Table by Uhuru
Uhuru is making a lot of waves in the furniture world, since its founding in 2004. Their products are generally made of recycled materials, environmentally friendly materials, and to top things off are handmade to order. Built in Red Hook, Brooklyn
The Stitched Table is pretty amazing; combining a giant slab of Walnut with Seafoam green steel base and “stitches” holding the slab together. It seems to be transcending Nakashima, but in the more modern sense.

Fin Chair by Matthew Hilton for De La Espada
This is simply my opinion, but De La Espada is creating the most amazing hand crafted solid wood furniture available on the market today. Nothing else comes close. The attention to detail is stunning, and you can see this being proven by some of the photos from their London Design Festival show room. Click through to see them….
On top of that Matthew Hilton might also be one of the best furniture designers.

Angular Collection by Kurt Dexel (dexelcrafted)
I love everything about this line of furniture: the Mid Century influences + updated styling, and even the photography of the pieces. I’ll take one of everything please.

I’ve often heard the saying ‘the most creative people, have the messiest desks’ because they don’t want to waste time organizing. I like to believe this, since I have a messy desk.
Llot Llov, based out of Berlin, has created a new line of prototype furniture focusing on ‘Arranged Disorder’ allowing you to easily hide your mess. I especially like this desk: it is something I could definitely use considering I often have to clear a spot on my desk to sketch.
The rest of the line also includes a stool that uses your laundry you have lying around as the cusion. Click through for more photos.

Any design (but especially furniture) that reuses material(s) and still looks amazing, is number one in my book. This is one of the better reuses for a pallet that I have seen. And I think it is great they just sell the instructions on how to do it yourself, instead of trying to sell it for $800.
A long time ago, I posted this mirror which uses the same idea of recycling a pallet, EXCEPT they are asking a lot of money for the mirror.

Mushrooms Ate My Furniture
“After a time of exposure to the weather, mushrooms will grow out and live with the furniture for a few more years. As the nutritional material from the wood is eaten by the mushrooms, the furniture will start to break down, eventually dying while giving its life to the mushrooms.”
This really is a fantastic piece of conceptual furniture designed by Shinwei Rhoda Yen, a student at HDK. I wonder if it is possible to create a similar version with moss?
