About

Multidisciplinary Inspiration

With so many great categories of design, it is hard to just focus on one. Which is why this blog will focus on a little bit of everything: architecture, furniture, product design, illustration, various artists, etc. Curated by Brian Everett of EVRT Studio in Kansas City

Editorial for Intelligent Utility Magazine
I recently completed this illustration for an article talking about some energy grants for Iowa, which will bring automatic metering to homes and businesses, in turn saving them money. Enthralling huh? No, but at least it will look good!
This will be a full right-hand sided page, and stretching into the opposite page slightly.
(if you are a magazine/newspaper/blog/etc. reading this, hire me for more editorial work please!)

Joe Hisaishi by Daisuke Tsutsumi
Stunning illustration with almost a painting like quality. This was a commissioned piece that Daisuke did personally for Joe Hisaishi; a famous Japanese composer recently rewarded a lifetime achievement award from the Japanese government. This will be on his thank you packages that are sent out to people.

Josh Middleditch
An awesome illustration from Josh. He explains it below:
“Its a piece I did on the poem ‘The Panic Bird’ by Robert Philips. I went through a long process of experiments with different images and ideas based on the poem. I took a lot of photos, used these to create single images which i then cut and distorted. In the end result i tried to capture the atmospheric feel of the poem. It was a project that took about 3 weeks to complete and is probably one of my favorites I have done at the moment”

Colville Lake by Graham Robinson
This Canadian artist’s work is really refreshing. I personally can connect more with his subject matter. It makes me want to go back to my childhood of camping, hunting & fishing.

Hyperdoodle Journal & Robot Keychain by Maura Cluthe (Fragmented)
Maura, better known as Fragmented, a local Kansas Citian designed these for Hallmark last year, and they should be in your local Gold Crown store now. I have tons of sketchbooks and notebooks alredy, but I’m trying to find an excuse not to buy this one.

City Lights
An illustration I completed recently, based upon a photograph I took in Manhattan years ago. I’ve been wanting to do something with that image for a long time. This will be adapted into a poster shortly, and put up in the shop as soon as I decide what size it should be.

You might have seen his work floating around the internet before. I love his style of illustration, and he has tons of it on his site. Definitely go check out more of it by clicking through. And does it come to any surprise he is from Sweden?

Traveler Motel
The next print up in the store went up this morning. This was an illustration I did for a presentation to a client that went unused, so I modified it a little and turned it into a small print. For the time being, this is my personal favorite thing I have illustrated.

Snow Ski
Done and in the shop. Not much has changed since the previous version you saw, except some added subtle texture. I fooled around with adding ski trails, but they didn’t look right, so I just kept it simple instead.
Anyway, click through to buy it from my shop. Stay tuned for more prints soon to come!
12” x 18” print on 100# True White Speckletone French Paper

Finally got this print up in my shop!
