Everything All The Time

About

Multidisciplinary Inspiration

With so many great categories of design, it is hard to just focus on one. Which is why this blog will focus on a little bit of everything: architecture, furniture, product design, illustration, various artists, etc. Curated by Brian Everett of EVRT Studio in Kansas City

Panamarenko is an artist from Antwerp, born in 1940. His work usually combines space, movement, flight, energy and the power of gravity. Besides being a sculpture, Panamarenko is also an Engineer, Poet, & Physicist. Basically you could say he is a modern day Da Vinci.
Personally, his style is right up my alley. I love his quirky flying machines. And you have to wonder if Wes Anderson was inspired by him when he created the Zissou Sub. It is hard to find a place with all of his work and a clear explanation in English. You are better off looking through a Flickr search for his work. Click through…
Supposedly his name translates to “Pan American Airlines & Company.” He retired in 2005, and now owns his own Coffee brand called “Panama Jumbo.”
You can also visit his website.

Between Folds by Francisca Prieto
Francisca has an amazing sense of detail. The Between Folds series is constructed of cut and folded envelopes. By using 100’s of different envelopes, she gets a subtle variation in color, which makes these wall hanging even more special.
And if you are a typography fan, you really owe a glance through her personal site at some of her other work.

David Buckingham (Los Angeles) makes really awesome things out of recycled metal. The list includes giant hand guns, movie quotes, color studies, and various words (my favorite). Do yourself a favor and click through to glance at his work. I would buy anyone of his pieces, if I had the extra money stashed away (plus a giant loft wall to hang it on).

Here is a time lapse video of Kiel Johnson making a giant cardboard replica of a TLR (Twin Lens Reflex camera for those non-photographers). You have to watch, if you are interested in cameras at all. Now I want to make one myself….

Mobiles by Miranda Watkins
If you are looking for super minimal and sleek mobiles, Miranda’s designs are perfect. I really like the subtle use of color, and gray values combined with stainless steel. I’m afraid to ask how much they cost…

Pantone Rainbow by Bates 141
The rainbow is 8 meters long and uses 5,000 Pantone chips to create the rainbow. With the going rate of Pantone books and replacement pages, that means the sculpture cost somewhere around 2 million to create…..  :) Just kidding. It is actually pretty cool

Paper architecture sculptures from Ingrid Siliakus. These things are incredible, and I would never have the time and patience to make one.

Once again I’m surprised at the powers of craigslist.
H. Mathis of Anti Success, created a collection of dirt samples formed into the shape of each state, with the dirt from that state.  The dirt was collected by volunteers he found through Craigslist, whom he sent postage paid kits to send the dirt sample back.
“SAID POST READ THAT I WAS WORKING ON AN ART PROJECT. (OH MAN, DO PEOPLE LOVE THAT). AND THAT I NEEDED TO AQUIRE DIRT FROM EVERY STATE.”
“IT SEEMED THAT ALMOST HALF THE RESPONSES THOUGHT IT WAS A KEEN IDEA TO GET A POSTAGE PAID ENVELOPE TO SEND BIRTHDAY GIFTS TO THEIR RELATIVES.”
